As our homes go through the freeze and thaw cycles, it is important that we take valuable and proactive steps to prevent issues. Due to the tilt of the Earth’s axis, the northern hemisphere begins to see the winter-scape come back to life with daffodils blooming, grass greening, and temperatures warming during late March into early April. As exciting as that can be, so many things need to be done to prepare for the warmer season, including spring cleaning, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors tested, and filters changed.
To prepare warmer weather, I make sure our outdoor equipment is inspected and tested for use outdoors. I prep the fountains for our facility before filling. At home I switch my fans from winter (clockwise) to summer mode (counterclockwise) rotation. I also open the vents upstairs more and mostly close the vents downstairs.
Having equipment, like the mower and weed eater, tested and ready to go saves a lot of headaches down the road when they must be working. Switching vents and the fans directions save energy and money.
I also recommend you pick that one thing that bugs you and fix it. It could be the color of your kitchen, how your living room is arranged, or that chair that’s wobbly. That one thing, no matter how small, once changed, could make you smile every time you interact with it, because it is no longer a nuisance.
Before you break out the patio furniture and start planting your gardens, you might want to be like the experts at The Castlewood Senior Living and get your home ready for a headache-free season.
