Arrow Senior Living Memory Care gathers detailed information about the person living with dementia. We secure this information prior to their move into the Neighborhood. We create an engagement plan for each individual resident. This enables us to create engagement they will enjoy and allows us to provide the best person-centered care. We also have beautiful courtyards so residents can enjoy the outdoors and life stations throughout the Neighborhood to promote purposeful reminiscing opportunities.
We are finding dementia is affecting people at younger ages. We have had individuals as young as 40 years of age. The most recent diagnosis was in China, he was only 19 years old. The most important thing in caring for someone with dementia is providing them a safe, secure environment where they can have meaningful engagement throughout each day.
We have seen an overall improvement in those living with dementia once they move into our Memory Care Neighborhood. When individuals come from home, typically, they were not receiving the engagement and socialization that takes place in our Neighborhood. There is a saying, “Use it or lose it.” This is very true for those living with dementia. It is vital to focus on their remaining abilities and utilize those daily.
