Each year, I select a Word of the Year—a meaningful word that serves as a guide for my personal and professional focus. As the Executive Director at The Castlewood Senior Living in Nixa, Missouri, the start of a new year feels like the perfect time to reset, refocus, and prepare for the opportunities and challenges ahead. My chosen word acts as an anchor, influencing how I lead my team, support families, and care for residents. Reflecting on 2024, I am amazed by the profound impact this practice has had on my journey.
The Word of the Year for 2024 was cohesive. This word guided our efforts to create unity, build stronger connections, and foster a supportive environment. It shaped our decisions, strengthened relationships, and fueled growth throughout the year. By focusing on cohesion, we intentionally became a more connected and unified team.
This emphasis on cohesion encouraged us to prioritize collaboration and support one another in achieving shared goals. It was a reminder that teamwork and unity are essential for success, both personally and professionally.
The lessons from 2024 will continue to guide us as we step into 2025. This year’s focus on cohesion has laid a strong foundation for our next Word of the Year.
