Peace of mind when it’s most important.
If there is one thing more emotionally challenging than caring for a loved one with memory loss, it’s making the decision to find senior living options when their care becomes too challenging at home. We understand how each step in the process is harder than the last and we are here to walk through the journey with you.
The Castlewood’s memory care neighborhood is designed with comfort and ease of navigation in mind. By focusing on dignity, quality of life, and independence, we strive to ensure all of our residents feel respected and cared for as they age, regardless of what they remember today or tomorrow.
Memory Care Apartments
Apartments at The Castlewood balance privacy with connectedness, allowing residents to have the best of both worlds. Our apartments were designed with seniors in mind, ensuring simple and immediate access to all the necessities of life.
Assigned Life Enrichment Coordinators
Quality care begins with strong relationships. That’s why we pair Life Enrichment Coordinators and residents as a team. By creating personalized bonds of trust and friendship, we are able to focus on developing communication skills unique to each resident and strive to identify small changes in health and wellness.
Security is always a primary concern at memory care, but we never want residents to feel monitored or restricted. The design of the memory care cottage focuses not just on comfort and ease of navigation, but on security. However, we never want residents to feel monitored, so we make every effort to integrate resident safety systems in discreet ways.
Specialized activity stations, called Life Stations™, are dotted strategically throughout our memory care cottage to promote engagement opportunities for residents. Each station is designed to resemble a different aspect of life to capture residents’ attention and promote a sense of purpose. Our Life Enrichment Coordinators also create life boxes that are specific to memory care residents!
One of the benefits of specialized memory care is the individualized attention devoted to engaging each resident on their terms. From dancing to gardening, it’s important to us that each resident is as engaged and active as they can be.
There are no two ways about it – memory loss and dementia are hard on the diet. Understanding the reasons and developing a robust dining strategy is one of the core features of our memory care neighborhood.
Personal care is a core element of the dignity of each person, and we are focused on protecting that dignity. That’s why, in addition to assuring that every resident enjoys the daily care of combing, brushing, and makeup, we include a weekly visit to our salon at no additional cost.
Providing care for residents with dementia is a highly specialized skill – one that we develop by utilizing the best courses in empathy, communication, and personal care.
