The Castlewood Senior Living Plant Operations Allows No Slip Ups With Building Safety

Building Safety Month takes place in May every year and is internationally recognized for raising awareness in keeping buildings safe.

This initiative unites industries, associations, academia, and government under a common goal to protect the public by creating a safe and resilient environment. Our primary focus as the Plant Operations Team at The Castlewood Senior Living Nixa, MO is keeping our residents, visitors, and staff safe.

There are certain tasks we perform to safeguard our community. One of the most important is the monthly fire drill, which we do on rotation with all shifts. Door latches and locks are checked regularly. Exit and fire doors are checked to make certain there are not obstructions in the way to keep anyone from leaving the building.

Life safety is a huge part of being a Plant Operations Director, along with my responsibility of building maintenance. I would say I’m most proud when my team outperforms themselves. Our residents’ safety and care are top priority.

One thing I do at home related to building safety is change the batteries in all smoke detectors semi-annually.
