The Castlewood Senior Living Celebrates National Nurses Week

National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6th and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. These permanent dates enhance planning and position National Nurses Week as an established recognition event. As of 1998, May 8 was designated as National Student Nurses Day, to be celebrated annually. And as of 2003, National School Nurse Day is celebrated on the Wednesday within National Nurses Week (May 6-12) each year. The nursing profession has been supported and promoted by the American Nurses Association (ANA) since 1896.

Angie is the Director of Wellness I have been working with and she is amazing. She has her own drive to get in and get all tasks completed as they become due. Angie has done a great job at leading her team and defending, protecting, and supporting them any time needed. I could not have done my first months as a new Executive Director without her. Congratulations on her promotion as Regional Director. I now have a new Director of Wellness. Kim is fitting into the team very well and continues to eagerly learn the ropes. I am very thankful for both Directors.

Residents would say our director is always available and approachable and the wellness team thrives no matter the struggles they face. Our wellness team helps to cover all departments as needed. The common goal within the wellness team is to ensure residents’ needs are met. They will go above and beyond to ensure it’s done. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic the team stepped up by staying on board with the community and enduring the struggles.

I want to give an extra shoutout to Kimberly Bone, our day nurse manager. She never hesitates to jump in and complete all tasks asked of her.  Kimberly leads her team and always expresses genuine support.

In recognition of National Nurses Week The Castlewood Senior Living Nixa, MO will be giving gifts and verbal appreciation to our nursing staff.
